Home Based Business Ideas for Profit: Starting a Baby Prints Home Business

This weeks question comes from Claire in the UK, who has been researching different Home Based Business Opportunities and she wants to know what is the best business idea to make money from home?  She says she is particularly looking for profitable home business ideas with low start up costs.

After doing a lot of research, Claire has decided that she is interested in starting her own Baby Prints Home Business and wants to know if this would be a successful home business?

Claire also wants to know if she would be able to create a successful and profitable home business, by offering just 2D Baby Prints, or should she offer a wider product range to increase sales and profitability?

Thank you very much for this great question Claire!  I know that many of my followers will really benefit from discovering more about this, so I’ll just start by answering whether I think you should focus on offering just one procuct  or multiple product ranges.

To be honest, this depends entirely upon you and your available budget.  Many of my customers, just book onto one or two of my Craft Courses and then gradually extend their product range, by booking extra Craft Courses, as they start to make money and recoup their costs. But equally, I have other Customers with a larger budget, who decide to offer a full product range from the start.

This is the great thing about my series of Craft Courses and this particular Home Business Idea.  It is entirely flexible, with no high start up costs or contracts that you need to worry about signing. Quite simply, you’ll be running your own Home Business, under your own terms.

My own personal opinion though, is that it’s always better to offer more than one product range. Not only will this allow you to appeal to a much wider audience, catering for different tastes, but, also, it makes good Business sense to build In multiple revenue streams to your business.

Quite simply, the more products that you have to offer, the more opportunities you will have to sell and this will reflect directly in your sales and profitability. This is assuming of course,  that you have a good marketing plan in place.  Don't forget, we have many ways to help our members at The Keepsake Guild and Victress Entrepreneurs to succeed in Business. 

Well, Claire, you’ve already told me that you want to start your own 2D Baby Prints Home Business, so the next natural choice for you, would be to book onto my 3D Baby Casting Course as well.

The reason that I would pair up 2D Baby Prints and 3D Baby Castings, is because:

• 3D Baby Castings &  2D Baby Prints are extremely complimentary.

• 3D Baby Castings & 2D Baby Prints are both very popular with customers.

• There is also some cross-over in terms of how to make Baby Castings and Baby Prints, meaning you’ll have a shorter learning curve than if you offered two entirely contrasting products ranges.

• Also, you don’t need a Kiln for 2D Baby Prints or 3D Baby Casting, so these are great courses to begin with, if you want to keep your start up costs low.   

Equally if you’re more interested in learning how to make Fingerprint Jewellery and starting a Jewellery Home Business, I’d recommend that you do my Fingerprint Jewellery Course  and Artwork and Baby Handprint Jewellery Course, so that you can offer all of these Jewellery product ranges to your customers.  Quite often you’ll find that a customer will want a fingerprint charm as well and a handprint charm, so if you only offer one of these Keepsake product ranges, you’ll really be limiting yourself.

The same would apply if you were more interested in starting a Ceramics Keepsakes or Pottery Painting Home Business. In this case, I would recommend that you do both, our Ceramic Baby Prints Course and our Pottery Painting Courses.  This is not only, because of the similarity in the techniques, but also because it will allow you to maximise the use and return on investment on your Ceramic Kiln, which will be necessary if you want to start a Ceramics or Pottery Painting Home Business.
